Stereo parabolic microphone equipped with very low noise and high sensitive sensors.
Ideal for generic applications in which the sterephonoic effect gives the spatial location for every sound.
You need an external audio recorder and headphones.
Introducing the Hi Sound Stereo Promod: The Ultimate Modular Parabolic Microphone
The Hi Sound Promod represents a breakthrough in wildlife and field recording by introducing a fully modular parabolic system. Designed for maximum flexibility, the core setup features a universal handle and parabolic disc. To this foundation, you can easily attach either a dedicated stereo or mono microphone module, allowing you to instantly adapt to any field recording scenario without needing an entirely new rig.
Whether you choose the stereo or mono configuration, the microphone module is equipped with four high-performance AOM-5024 capsules. This four-capsule is meticulously engineered to deliver the best possible Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), ensuring pristine, low-noise recordings even when capturing the faintest sounds in nature.
Building upon the proven acoustic design of previous generations, the stereo module achieves highly accurate channel separation by placing a separator disc (baffle) between two pairs of microphones (two capsules for the left channel, two for the right). Unlike traditional PZM designs, the Promod places the capsules on the exact same plane as the baffle rather than facing opposite directions. This innovative configuration yields an additional signal gain of +6 dB without negatively influencing the high-frequency response. Furthermore, the internal circuitry utilizes top and bottom shielding tightly connected to the ground of the four capsules, maximizing the system's immunity to external interference.
Out of the box, both the mono and stereo versions output via a standard 3.5mm stereo mini-jack, making them instantly compatible with all standard professional portable recorders. The Promod's adaptability extends to any professional or digital workflow:
Professional XLR Setup: If your recorder relies on XLR inputs, simply utilize an XLR PIP converter. The wiring scheme is clean and straightforward: Hi Sound Promod ➔ 3.5mm Jack Cable ➔ XLR PIP Converter ➔ XLR Cables ➔ Recorder. To keep your hands free, the PIP converter can be conveniently attached directly to the Promod’s handle using a standard bicycle phone mount.
Smartphone & Real-Time Bird Identification: For digital field analysis, the Promod can be routed through a 3.5mm-to-USB converter to connect directly to a smartphone. Using the exact same bicycle phone mount, you can secure your mobile device right on the microphone handle. This allows you to run modern bird identification apps and perform real-time, highly accurate species recognition directly in the field.
The Hi Sound Promod includes the modular handle, the parabolic disc, and the microphone module. All you need to bring is your compatible recorder or smartphone to start capturing the natural world in unprecedented detail.
